Set in the “Bridge City” of Saskatoon, the Oculofacial Plastic Surgery fellowship is a one to two-year educational fellowship with Saskatoon Eye Surgeons and the University of Saskatchewan that provides subspecialty training in the medical and surgical management of disorders involving the eyelids, orbit, lacrimal system, and facial structures. The program combines functional, reconstructive, oncologic, trauma, and aesthetic surgery, bridging ophthalmology and plastic surgery across both adult and pediatric patient populations.

With a high-volume of comprehensive surgical training, the fellow will work directly alongside fellowship-trained oculofacial and orbital surgeons to gain extensive hands-on experience in complex reconstructive cases as well as cosmetic interventions, including blepharoplasty, brow and midface lifts, injectables, and resurfacing.

Through our strong partnerships with the ophthalmology residency and undergraduate medical education programs at the University of Saskatchewan, the fellow plays an integral role in teaching both medical students and ophthalmology residents.

Academic components of the program include weekly conferences (case reviews, journal clubs, morbidity & mortality rounds), and a research requirement, with the completion of a publishable project by the end of fellowship. Presentation and participation at the Canadian Ophthalmology Society annual meeting, national/international meeting participation (ASOPRS, AAO, CSOPRS, ESOPRS) is required.

Our program sets fellows up for success by combining experience in both hospital and community clinics to prepare them for academic or private clinical careers.

Anyone who has completed an accredited ophthalmology residency (Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or equivalent) and is eligible for a Saskatchewan educational or independent licence is eligible to apply.
