Vitrectomy Surgery
More About Vitrectomy Surgery
A vitrectomy is a surgical procedure used as treatment for many different eye conditions. Some of these include retinal detachment, macular hole, diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, macular pucker, vitreous hemorrhage, and uveitis. The procedure involves removing the vitreous gel from the inside the eye. The vitreous may be replaced with silicone oil or an air bubble to promote healing and protect the retina. Saskatoon Retina Services can provide more information on this particular treatment.
