What To Expect From Your First Visit
Our professional, eye-care staff and doctors at Saskatoon Eye Surgeons will walk you through the entire process and answer all of your questions along the way. Our eye experts will diagnose your issues and provide comprehensive treatment to help resolve your eye-care issues.
At your initial visit, we’ll use our industry-leading equipment to provide a thorough examination to evaluate the condition of your eyes, which may require several hours. On follow-up appointments, your visit time may be much shorter, depending upon your specific diagnosis, any tests you may need, or particular treatments that may be required.
Professional, Patient-Focused Care
Before you see your doctor, an experienced Ophthalmic Technician will take a detailed medical history, perform visual screening tests, and administer drops to dilate your pupils. This is needed so that the retinal specialist can see into the back of your eye where the retina is located. The dilation process usually requires 20 to 30 minutes and will make it difficult for you to focus. You may want to arrange to have someone to drive you home and bring sunglasses.
Your doctor will review your medical history with you and examine your eyes with special attention to your retina. Your doctor will explain his or her findings and, if necessary, make recommendations for diagnostic testing. Once a diagnosis is established, your doctor will discuss your treatment options, answer any questions that you may have, and send an extensive report to your other healthcare providers, including recommendations for future care.
How Long Will your Visit Take?
Typically, our patient wait time can be 2-3 hours due to a number of factors. As mentioned, there are a few preliminary steps and questionnaires to go through to ensure we have a thorough assessment of your concerns up to this point. It may also involve administering drops and waiting for the drops to be most effective.

What About Parking?
Midtown Plaza has the largest heated underground parking facility in the city with over 1000 surface stalls directly north and south of the plaza and 796 stalls in a heated, underground parkade (parking rates are posted and managed by Midtown Plaza). For your convenience, you have a 15-minute window of time to drop off patients in the underground parking area. Simply drop off patients at the Midtown Tower side of the underground elevators (the mall elevator only services the two mall floors) and take the elevator to the 7th floor.
